Jyoti Malhotra, an Indian YouTuber, has been arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan. Authorities allege that she used encrypted apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and Snapchat to pass sensitive information to ISI handlers.
New Delhi, May 23 — In a major national security breach, Jyoti Malhotra, a well-known Indian YouTuber with over 3.7 lakh subscribers, has been arrested by Hisar Police on charges of espionage. Known for her YouTube channel Travel with JO, Jyoti allegedly used encrypted messaging apps to leak sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives.
🕵️♀️ Encrypted Apps Used to Leak Strategic Secrets
According to police sources, Jyoti maintained contact with her Pakistani handlers using WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat—platforms known for their encryption and privacy. Her coded messages and frequent international travel reportedly placed her under surveillance, eventually leading to her arrest. Authorities have detained six other individuals in connection with the case.
🧩 The ‘Danish’ Connection: A Link to ISI?
Investigators identified a critical figure in the case—Ahsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish. Jyoti allegedly met him during her 2023 visit to Pakistan. Their relationship extended to joint travel to Indonesia, raising red flags. It is believed that Danish may have introduced her to ISI agents, initiating her involvement in espionage activities.
📱 Suspected Use of YouTube for Propaganda
Authorities are also scrutinizing Jyoti’s content for subtle pro-Pakistan messaging. Her travel vlogs with titles such as “Indian Girl in Pakistan” and videos highlighting Pakistani hospitality are being examined for possible use as soft propaganda tools.
🕌 VIP Access and Embassy Links Under Investigation
In a surprising twist, Jyoti reportedly attended a VIP Iftar event at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. This high-profile access has led investigators to probe her embassy connections and whether they were used to gather intelligence.
🚨 Ongoing Investigation and National Security Concerns
The case has triggered a national security alert, with authorities actively analyzing her electronic devices, financial transactions, and travel records. DSP Kamaljeet Singh confirmed that Jyoti confessed to using encrypted applications during her interactions in Pakistan.
