On June 17, 2025, a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) led to extreme weather over Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi.
The region faced:

- Heavy rain and lightning
- Wind speeds of 50–70 km/hr
- Reduced visibility due to dark cloud cover and waterlogging on airport roads
These conditions disrupted both takeoffs and landings, triggering delays and flight diversions.

- Flights were diverted to Jaipur and Lucknow.
- Domestic departures, especially towards eastern India and the South, were delayed up to 2 hours.
