India’s global anti-terror outreach begins: Here’s why these 33 nations were selected for delegations’ visits

New Delhi, May 2025 — In response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent Indian military strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor, India has launched a wide-reaching global diplomatic mission aimed at building support against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

Seven multi-party Indian parliamentary delegations will visit 33 strategically chosen countries spanning nearly every continent, with the exception of Australia.


Objective of the Outreach

The initiative seeks to:

  • Expose Pakistan’s role in sponsoring terrorism

  • Counter anti-India narratives at international platforms, especially the UN Security Council (UNSC)

  • Strengthen global consensus on counter-terrorism

  • Group 4 (Shrikant Shinde, Shiv Sena): UAE, Liberia, Congo (DRC), Sierra Leone

  • Group 5 (Shashi Tharoor, Congress): USA, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, Colombia

  • Group 6 (Kanimozhi, DMK): Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Russia

    • Permanent Members: USA, UK, France, Russia

    • Non-Permanent Members: Algeria, Denmark, Greece, Guyana, Panama, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia

  2. Regional and Global Influence
    Countries like Japan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, South Africa, Malaysia, and Indonesia are vital due to their regional leadership in blocs such as:

    • GCC (Gulf)

    • ASEAN (Southeast Asia)

    • African Union

  3. Strategic Partnerships
    Several countries have strong economic, defense, or diplomatic ties with India, including:

    • Russia (traditional ally)

    • Brazil (BRICS & G20 partner)

    • Japan (QUAD partner)

    • Indonesia, whose president was the 2025 Republic Day chief guest

  4. Africa Engagement
    Countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia, DRC, and Ethiopia reflect India’s deepening presence in Africa through development aid, peacekeeping history, and diplomatic missions.
