Adani Defence and Aerospace, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, has partnered with US-based Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC) to develop India’s first indigenised sonobuoy systems for the Indian Navy. This strategic collaboration marks a major milestone in bolstering India’s self-reliance in defence technology, particularly in the domain of anti-submarine warfare (ASW).

Sparton, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, is a global leader in advanced ASW solutions. Together with Adani Defence and Aerospace, the company will focus on localising the production and assembly of complex electronic systems critical for undersea surveillance and defence. The partnership also aims to position India as a potential exporter of high-tech naval systems to global markets.

With this initiative, Adani Defence and Aerospace becomes the first private sector company in India to offer indigenously developed sonobuoy solutions. This achievement reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting the Indian government’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) vision.

“In an increasingly volatile maritime environment, strengthening India’s undersea warfare capabilities is not merely a strategic priority but an imperative for safeguarding sovereignty and national interests,” said Jeet Adani, Vice President of Adani Enterprises.

He added that the Indian Navy requires integrated, mission-ready intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and ASW capabilities—particularly systems like sonobuoys—that are indigenously developed, rapidly deployable, and globally competitive.

“Through this partnership with Sparton, Adani Defence and Aerospace becomes the first private company in India to offer indigenised sonobuoy solutions. This enables access to advanced technologies while fostering a future-ready, self-reliant defence ecosystem. Our vision is to empower India’s armed forces with world-class capabilities that are designed, developed, and delivered in India—for India and the world,” Jeet Adani concluded.
