What Happened?

A horrific road accident rocked the Jahangirabad area of Bulandshahr early Wednesday morning. A Swift car, carrying a family returning from a wedding in Budaun, collided with a roadside culvert (puliya) and overturned near the Chandok–Janiipur tri-junction.

Moments later, the vehicle burst into flames, trapping passengers inside.

The Victims

The crash killed five people, including:

  • Jubair (35) – the driver
  • Zeba and Nida – young daughters of Tanveer
  • Zainul – minor son of Tanveer
  • Momena – a close relative

One woman, Gulnaz (28), miraculously survived with critical burns and is currently hospitalized in serious condition.

Cause of the Accident

Initial reports suggest the driver may have dozed off, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and hit the culvert head-on. The impact was so severe that it ruptured the fuel line, triggering the fire.

Ground Reports

Locals rushed to the scene upon hearing the explosion but were unable to rescue the passengers due to the intensity of the fire. Fire brigades and police reached shortly after, but all five victims had already perished.

The burnt remains were sent for postmortem.

👮 Police Action

  • FIR likely under negligent driving
  • The district administration confirmed an investigation into road safety and culvert design in the area
