On Kiran Rao: Friendship That Transitioned

Aamir married Kiran Rao in 2005, during the post-Lagaan phase of his life. While their relationship began on a strong friendship, it evolved over time:
We tried to keep the honesty alive, even during the decision to separate. It was painful, yes, but it wasn’t bitter

Their divorce in 2021 was announced via a joint statement, assuring fans that they would co-parent their son Azad and remain collaborators.

On Emotional Maturity and Self-Realization

In a podcast appearance with Raj Shamani, Aamir confessed:
I realized I made Kiran cry at times. I wasn’t emotionally available. I was hurt, and I made others hurt too. I was a red flag

He admitted that introspection helped him grow, and he’s still on the journey of understanding himself better—both as a partner and a parent.

Shaadi mein main kamyab nahi hua hoon, lekin divorce mein main hua hoon.”
