India–US Trade Deal Near Finish Line as Talks Gain Momentum in Washington

Published

on

Negotiations between India and the United States are entering their final phase, with officials from both sides signalling that a long-awaited trade agreement is close to completion. Ongoing discussions in Washington, D.C. have gained significant momentum, raising expectations of a breakthrough soon.

A senior US official described the talks as “positive and productive,” noting that most of the major issues have already been resolved. Only a few minor gaps remain, which negotiators are now working to close.

High-Level Leadership Driving Progress

The current round of negotiations features strong leadership from both nations. The Indian delegation is being led by Darpan Jain, while the US side is headed by Brendan Lynch from the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

Their involvement highlights the importance both governments are placing on finalising the agreement, which has been under discussion for several years.

What the Deal Aims to Achieve

At its core, the India–US trade deal seeks to:

  • Reduce tariffs on key goods
  • Expand bilateral trade
  • Improve market access for businesses
  • Strengthen supply chain cooperation

Earlier this year, both countries agreed on a framework for an interim deal, which helped accelerate the current phase of negotiations.

Strong Political Backing

The negotiations have received strong support from political leaders on both sides.

US Ambassador Sergio Gor described the agreement as a “win-win,” expressing confidence that it will boost both economies.

Meanwhile, India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed that the first phase of the deal is nearly ready. He emphasised that India’s interests have been carefully protected and stated that the country has secured one of the most competitive agreements compared to its global peers.

Beyond Trade: A Strategic Partnership

The India–US relationship extends far beyond trade. According to Goyal, the partnership is “multidimensional,” covering areas such as:

  • Technology collaboration
  • Critical minerals supply chains
  • Defence cooperation
  • Economic resilience

He highlighted that the partnership between the two nations is set to play a defining role in shaping the global future.

Why This Deal Matters

A successful agreement could:

  • Strengthen economic ties between two of the world’s largest economies
  • Create new opportunities for businesses and investors
  • Enhance geopolitical cooperation
  • Support global supply chain stability

With most issues already resolved, the final announcement may not be far away.

Final Take

After years of negotiations, the India–US trade deal appears to be on the brink of completion. If finalised, it could mark a major milestone in bilateral relations and open a new chapter of economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Operation Mahadev: The 93-Day Hunt That Delivered Justice to Pahalgam Victims

Published

on

The brutal terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, left the nation in shock and mourning. The attack, carried out at Baisaran, was marked by chilling precision, where innocent civilians were targeted in an execution-style killing based on identity.

For India’s security forces, this was not just another incident—it was a mission that demanded justice.

The Attack That Triggered a Nationwide Response

Within hours of the incident, troops from the Indian Army reached the site and began reconstructing the sequence of events. Eyewitness testimonies and on-ground intelligence quickly confirmed the involvement of three terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The attackers were identified as:

  • Sulaiman Shah
  • Hamza Afgani
  • Jibran Bhai

Using a combination of human intelligence (HUMINT) and technical intelligence (TECHINT), security agencies established a clear trail, setting the stage for one of the most extensive counter-terror operations in recent years.

A Relentless Multi-Agency Pursuit

What followed was a 93-day-long, high-intensity manhunt across the challenging terrains of South Kashmir. Forces from the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and central agencies worked in close coordination.

The operation initially focused on:

  • Sealing escape routes
  • Preventing cross-border exfiltration
  • Mapping movement patterns

As intelligence evolved, it became evident that the terrorists were navigating through remote regions such as:

  • Tral
  • Hapatnar
  • Bugmar

Eventually, they moved toward the dense forests of Dachhigam National Park along the Mahadeo Ridge—terrain known for its steep gradients, thick foliage, and limited accessibility.

Technology Turns the Tide

Modern surveillance played a decisive role in tracking the fugitives. Security forces deployed:

  • Drones and remotely piloted aircraft
  • Electro-optical sensors
  • Real-time intelligence monitoring systems

These tools ensured continuous tracking, even in heavily forested and high-altitude zones, steadily shrinking the terrorists’ operational space.

Operation Enters Its Final Phase

By early July 2025, the operational grid had been significantly tightened. With fresh intelligence inputs, Operation Mahadev entered its decisive phase on July 10.

Large-scale coordinated operations were launched across:

  • Lidwas
  • Harwan
  • Dachhigam

Elite PARA (Special Forces) units were inducted, and escape routes were systematically blocked, isolating the terrorists within a confined zone.

The Final Strike

After covering over 250 kilometres and compressing the search area from more than 300 sq km to just 25 sq km, the operation reached its climax on July 28, 2025.

A PARA (Special Forces) team executed a stealth mission, trekking nearly 3 kilometres over 10 hours through treacherous terrain. In a swift and precise encounter, all three terrorists were neutralised.

Justice had finally been delivered.

What Operation Mahadev Represents

Operation Mahadev stands as a powerful example of:

  • Strategic patience and precision
  • Seamless inter-agency coordination
  • Effective use of advanced technology
  • Unwavering commitment to national security

More importantly, it reinforced a clear message: acts of terror will not go unanswered.

A Message Beyond the Operation

Beyond its tactical success, the operation restored public confidence and demonstrated the strength of India’s security framework. It showed that even in the most difficult terrains and complex scenarios, persistence and coordination can achieve decisive outcomes.

Final Take

Operation Mahadev was not just a military mission—it was a pursuit of justice. Over 93 days, across some of the toughest terrain in South Kashmir, India’s security forces proved that accountability will prevail, no matter how long it takes.

Kangana Ranaut Criticises Rahul Gandhi Over Parliament Speech on Women’s Reservation

Published

on

Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following his speech in Parliament on the Women’s Reservation issue.

Reacting strongly, Kangana said that listening to Rahul Gandhi was “a headache” and accused him of trivialising Parliamentary proceedings.

Rahul Gandhi’s Criticism of the Government

During his address in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi criticised the government’s proposed legislation related to implementing women’s reservation, particularly linking it to the Delimitation process.

He argued that the bill:

  • Does not genuinely empower women
  • Is instead an attempt to reshape India’s electoral landscape
  • Could delay real representation by up to a decade

Concerns Over Caste Census

Rahul Gandhi also claimed that the government is trying to bypass the caste census, which he believes is crucial for fair representation:

  • He argued that representation in Parliament and state assemblies should be based on caste data.
  • According to him, the current proposal avoids linking reservation to caste demographics.

Allegations Against the Government

Gandhi further accused the ruling government of attempting to:

  • “Rejig” India’s political map to retain power
  • Follow patterns seen in regions like Jammu & Kashmir and Assam

He warned that such steps could have long-term political consequences.

Opposition’s Stand

As Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi made it clear that:

  • The opposition will resist the current version of the bill
  • They are willing to support an immediate implementation of women’s reservation through earlier proposals like the Nari Shakti framework

Political Face-Off Intensifies

The exchange highlights growing tensions between the BJP and Congress over:

  • Women’s reservation
  • Electoral reforms
  • Representation of marginalized communities
