IPL 2025 Suspended for a Week Amid National Security Concerns

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the suspension of IPL 2025 for one week in response to the evolving national security situation. The decision follows detailed consultations with all 10 franchises, partners, and stakeholders.

“The safety of players, staff, and fans is our top priority. We remain fully committed to making informed decisions in the interest of everyone involved,” the BCCI stated.

Key Details:

  • The remaining 12 league-stage matches will be rescheduled. So far, 58 matches have been completed.

  • Revised fixtures and further updates will be shared after a thorough security assessment.

  • All teams and players have been informed. Arrangements are being made to send both Indian and overseas players home safely.

National Solidarity:

In a strong show of support, the BCCI affirmed its solidarity with the Indian government and armed forces, who continue to defend the nation under Operation Sindoor.

“We salute the bravery of our soldiers who are risking their lives to protect the country. Cricket stands united with the nation during this critical time.”

Recent Incident:

  • The Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings match was halted mid-game in Dharamsala due to security concerns. Although initially attributed to technical issues, the match was stopped as a precaution.

  • BCCI quickly arranged a special train to evacuate players and staff safely from the venue.

The IPL Governing Council, led by Chairman Arun Dhumal, will continue to monitor developments closely. An update on the revised IPL schedule will be provided as soon as conditions permit.

Why Lucknow Super Giants are above KKR on IPL 2025 points table despite having same points and negative NRR?

Lucknow Super Giants came back strongly after four consecutive losses to turn the tables against the table-toppers, Gujarat Titans, to register their sixth win of the ongoing IPL season. The Super Giants have 12 points in their kitty and now have a good opportunity to finish with 14.

Why is LSG ahead of KKR on the IPL points table? 🤔

Both Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders are locked at 12 points, and both have a negative Net Run Rate… so why is LSG placed higher?

LSG has won 6 matches
KKR has won only 5

KKR suffered two washouts due to rain (vs PBKS & RCB), which earned them just 1 point each — fewer wins ultimately hurt their standings despite equal points.

🏏 In IPL, when teams are tied on points:
1️⃣ Total wins decide ranking
2️⃣ NRR comes into play only if wins are also equal

‘Not your ideal lead-in to a qualifying game’: RCB head coach laments quick turnaround for team in playoffs

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have already qualified for the playoffs and are targeting a top-two finish in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. But their head coach, Andy Flower, isn’t entirely pleased with the schedule as they will play in playoffs soon after league stage.

RCB Head Coach Andy Flower: “Not Your Ideal Lead-In to a Qualifier”

🗣️ Ahead of a tight playoff schedule, RCB coach Andy Flower voiced concerns over the quick turnaround before the IPL Qualifier.

  • RCB will finish their league stage on May 27 vs LSG in Lucknow

  • If they finish in the top two, they’ll travel immediately for Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur on May 29

  • That’s <48 hours between games

“We’ll finish late, travel the next day, and play the next – not ideal, but we’ll deal with it,” Flower said.

Also, today’s clash vs SRH was moved from Bengaluru to Lucknow due to rain. “We would’ve loved to play in front of our fans,” he added.

🌧️ Rain delays, travel stress & playoffs looming — can RCB stay sharp when it matters most?
